A series of last decade American deaths found on FindAGrave (Jan 2021)

Met dank aan wijlen mijn achterneef Pieter Kloosterman (1950-2012), die mij enorm heeft geholpen met het Kloosterman-deel in deze genealogie.

Most of my ancestors lived in Greater Friesland (Fryslan, Groningen, Ost-Friesland), Northern England (Lancs, Lincs, Yorks, Notts, Leics, Derbs), perhaps also in Cheshire and Wales (Cymru). Before 1700 there are also some ancestral families who lived in Rouveen, Amersfoort, Tiel, Borculo, Ommeren (Netherlands), in Munster, Nordhorn, Wesel and Scherpenseel (Lower Germany) and in Eeklo and Neder-Pelt (Spanish Netherlands).

A part of the descendants found in this data base lived/live in the America's, Australia, Africa, New Zealand, Belgium, Germany or the Caribbean (Saba, Aruba, Curacao), some died in the East Indies, Balochistan (India), Palestine, Belgium, France, Germany, Russia or elsewhere as soldiers or sailors.

The North Meols (Southport) data are mostly based on the work of Joyce Otterstrom.
In this database only my ancestors, their siblings and first cousins are shown with their complete families.
For more extensive coverage of further generations in the North Meols area please see the same families in the parallel database of Joyce Otterstrom (warning: spelling of names may be different from one database to the other!).

No church name or cemetery name mentioned with a church event (christening, marriage, burial) in the parish of North Meols means that the event took place at St. Cuthbert's in Churchtown (oldest parish church of North Meols).

I am grateful to my late cousin Shirley J. Bos-Medema (1932-2018), who helped me a lot with the American side of the Bos family tree within this genealogy.

This database is updated every weekend.
Do contact me at atbos aet ziggo dot nl if you wish to add missing information or suggest corrections. Alternatively do so via the suggestion form with each person in the database.

War dead and war veterans:

I have a rendezvous with Death
At some disputed barricade,
When Spring comes back with rustling shade
And apple-blossoms fill the air--
I have a rendezvous with Death
When Spring brings back blue days and fair.

It may be he shall take my hand
And lead me into his dark land
And close my eyes and quench my breath-

It  may be I shall pass him still.
I have a rendezvous with Death
On some scarred slope of battered hill,
When Spring comes round again this year
And the first meadow-flowers appear.

God knows ’twere better to be deep
Pillowed in silk and scented down,
Where love throbs out in blissful sleep,
Pulse nigh to pulse, and breath to breath,
Where hushed awakenings are dear...
But I’ve a rendezvous with Death
At midnight in some flaming town,
When Spring trips north again this year,
And I to my pledged word am true,
I shall not fail that rendezvous.
